История создания и автор "Щедрика":
Создатель знаменитой рождественской мелодии "Щедрик" - украинский композитор Николай Леонтович, который работал над ней в течение жизни. Впервые ее услышали в 1901-1902 годах, а последняя редакция вышла в свет в 1919 году. Именно тогда хор Александра Кошица выступил с "Щедриком" в странах Европы, что и сделало колядку известной. А в 1921 году ее привезли в США.
Украинскую песню Николая Леонтовича "Щедрик" во всем мире знают под названием "Carol of the Bells". А все потому, что в 1936 году популярный американский композитор украинского происхождения Петр Вильговський написал англоязычный текст к мелодии.
